Find buried treasure: geocaching!

Withhold your judgment that Geo-caching--finding small caches of trinkets using GPS-devices--is a hobby relegated to the domain of nerds and their hefty GPS devices.

For anyone who ever thought finding a hidden treasure was cool, but only has the attention span of a few minutes, geo-caching is your sport.

Interested? If you've got an iPhone then you can geocach. Just download the free "Geo caching" app and go from there. The directions are simple, the maps are easy to read, and the number of caches in DC is mind blowing.

The YOW crew has tried its luck in Capitol Hill, Alexandria, Dupont, Charlottesville and some state parks in the area, and regardless of where we go, there are plenty of well-hidden geo caches to find.

  3. Geocaching is awesome! You recommended it and I'm not embarassed to admit it: it's the closest you can get to treasure hunting (for cheap/free) these days!
